I invite you to take a moment to truly look at this image, breathe and take it in. Now consider the title for this blog. While considering the image ask what about the title drew you in? Power. Mindset. I AM!
My wish for you with this blog is that you will consider these tips, not for perfection, but for practice to lift your spirits and your mindset. You ARE powerful!
Energy flows where intention goes. As the saying goes. What you say to yourself DOES matter! Anytime you are embarking on a journey, or in everyday life for that matter, mindset can be powerful! If you are saying “I can’t” or “That’s too much work” or ” I just don’t have time for that” then you won’t. It can often be that simple! If you switch that to “I am going to make this work” or “I AM” committed to finding a way to do this” OR my favorite ” I CAN and I WILL” then you will have a much more positive experience and attitude and more motivation to MAKE it happen!
I’m not sitting here typing to you pretending that this is always this easy, and I’m not perfect at it, but when I do remember to focus on these it IS so helpful! Just like all things it is a practice; not perfection.
MAKE SPACE FOR A POSITIVE MINDSET
Fun Fact! The average person has an estimated 70,000 thoughts per day! Take a moment to think about the thoughts that run through your mind. Are they positive and uplifting? “Today is going to be an amazing day!” Or negative and self-defeating? “I don’t have the energy to get through today.”
Positive thoughts boost your mood, spirit, and tend to generate even more positivity and happiness in your life! Conversely, negative thoughts can create a domino effect of destructive energy. Falling into a spiral of negativity tremendously affects how you live your life and how others perceive you. Thankfully, you don’t have to accept the negative internal chatter! Choose to switch to a happier perception and reach for better thoughts. Again, it takes practice, there is no perfect here, but soon enough, your mind will gravitate to the brighter side of life. Practice cultivating a positive mindset with these tips.
LET GO OF NEGATIVE SELF-TALK.
Bashing yourself on a daily basis takes a toll. When you hear the negative self-talk, say “cancel cancel,” followed by a positive comment to condition yourself to speak positively. A trick I learned from someone is to wear a hair tie or rubber band around your wrist. Each time negative talk begins to creep in, or if you are about to flip your lid, give a snap! Breathe. and bring yourself back down! Sound cooky, but it works! AlthoughI have to admit when I first started using this technique I started forming a bruise. I had to snap myself ALOT! It’s a practice right? LOL
LIMITING BELIEFS.
Replace beliefs that aren’t serving you anymore and rework them to into self-supporting goals. I call this “re-writing your story”!
Re-writing YOUR story is a powerful tool! Let go of what was and look at what IS! Now actually take some time and do just that! Get paper and pencil and begin writing what is YOU, NOW! It is amazingly freeing, insightful and magically positive! It can change your whole mindset of how you see yourself and where you will go!
COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS.
It can be so easy to look at social media and dream and desire what others (appear) to have; comparing yourself to others can be very toxic for us internally AND is like discarding everything you’ve got going for you at this very moment! Using someone else as a benchmark is healthier than comparing yourself. Distinguish between comparison and admiring. Shoot for admiration. Remember who we each are is what makes us special and unique. I adore my wonderful friends for who they are, what they have and how we support and lift one another. Being with them makes me a better person, not a bitter person.
RESISTING CHANGE.
If you want different results, do something different. Make change small. Start where you are. Pick one or two things to improve There’s no need to create chaos in the name of change.
THE NEED TO ALWAYS BE RIGHT.
The old saying goes ‘Would you rather be right or would you rather be happy?’ I have to admit I can struggle with this one, especially when it comes to my teenage boys! aaahh! Lordy, raising teenagers isn’t for the faint of heart! BUT this is always a wonderful reminder to let go when it just isn’t that important. Phew! This also difficult when you’re in the heat of the moment- but breathe and TRY to remember this. LOL
MAKE SPACE FOR GRATITUDE.
Even when you think you don’t have it all, focus on what you do have today. You can keep it quick and simple; each day morning or evening, or both, write down five thoughts you are grateful for. This one can sometimes be tricky when we’re having a down day or feeling bummed, but it’s amazing, doing this DOES lift your spirits, even if just a bit for a moment. 😉 Rereading what you’ve written helps too! I’m not the best morning person so when I (remember to) do this at night, rereading it in the morning is a great way to start the day!
WALKING WITH ENERGY AND PURPOSE.
Make a conscious effort to strut your stuff! Even when you’re feeling down and discouraged, stand tall and smile! Posture affects your mood; make it work in your favor!
SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH LIKE MINDED, UPLIFTING PEOPLE.
People who are vibrating on the same positive frequency will keep you grounded, inspired, and connected to YOUR greater life’s purpose too! They will help you believe in yourself, too. Finding that tribe is EVERYTHING! Trust me on this one!
REFLECTION
Take time to reflect, meditate, or simply release all thoughts and emotions. Create stillness in a quiet space and get back to a neutral state of mind and body. Taking a walk outside, going to a yoga or meditation class, going for a run, or doing something you enjoy can help get into the mindset for reflection as well.
DOING GOOD FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
Focus your energy on lifting up someone else and notice how your spirits elevate as well.
BREATHE
Most of all breathe. Connect with your breathe. Breathe in as deeply as you can, hold for 4 seconds and breathe it out, open mouth and loud! Let ‘er go! Know you will be ok! This is simple and you can do it any time, any where.
Need help or want to go deeper with this? Meditation and yoga classes are incredible in helping guide you!
